European Charter on Local Youth Work

The European Charter on Local Youth Work is a document that can be used by anyone to recommend the importance of local youth work.

The European Charter on Local Youth Work is a document that can be used by anyone to recommend the importance of local youth work: youth workers at their municipalities, local council members with their colleagues, youth organisations at national policy level etc.

The Charter contains:

  • the most important principles of local youth work;
  • its practical development;
  • the local policy that is required for this;
  • the role of youth workers; and
  • quality development.

In Flanders, the project is coordinated by a national working group with JINT vzw, Bataljong, Ambrassade and the Department of Culture, Youth and Media.

Currently the Charter is available in English and several other languages. A Dutch version is on its way.
